If you are looking for a new canine pal and would particularly enjoy owning a toy breed, then you should take a long, slow look at the stylish Teacup Pomeranian. Of course, these dogs take time to groom, as you will need to brush and comb their magnificent coat. Combine this with his bright eyes; high-handed way of walking and gorgeous coat and you will see your dog turning the eyes of those in your neighborhood.
Most dog lovers do not know that the Teacup Pomeranian is related to the standoffish, handsome Chow, the lovely white Samoyed and other dogs that belong to the group that is loosely known as "Northern dogs." This is why both Europe and Germany are able to boast that they have several near relatives of the Pomeranian, such as the black and white Spitzes.
Teacup Pomeranians average between 3 to 7 pounds. However, there are some that may weigh up to 15 pounds, as the teacup size is not guaranteed. Their head is wedge-shaped, thus giving them a foxy appearance with its small ears set high upon its head. The tail should be turned over the back and carried flat and high. These dogs do have 2 coats: a soft, thick, fluffy undercoat and a long, straight, coarse topcoat. Colors include: black, black and tan, blue, blue and tan, chocolate, chocolate and tan, cream, cream sable, orange, orange sable, red, red sable and sable. Alternate colors may include: beaver, brindle, chocolate sable, white and wolf sable.
These dogs are very confident, outgoing and expressive, despite their small size. This has helped them be able to easily adapt to various environments, thus making for a pleasant and loyal companion dog that can live to be up to 15 years old. If you get a Teacup Pomeranian as a puppy you will find that he will be curious and eager to learn, even at a very young age in life. This is because these dogs are intelligent, quick-witted and aware of their surroundings. For these reasons, you could quite easily train your Teacup Pomeranian to be a very good watchdog. If you do so, you will find that your Teacup Pomeranian may be able to point out objects that are out of place before you are even able to notice them. It is a good idea to be careful with these dogs too though. This is because they are also cheeky and cunning, which means that they can easily manipulate you if you are not careful.
You will find that these dogs enjoy mild exercise and are therefore suitable for apartment life. They are not recommended for homes that have small children because they are quite temperamental and may nip or bite if they are provoked. However, they will get along well with other household pets if you introduce them slowly and properly.
