Teacup Poodle

Its size and existence came along by the down sizing of many normal size poodle generations. The teacup poodle is a smaller version of the toy poodle. Even though, in breading standard a teacup poodle is classified as a toy.

  • Stands less than 9 inchs.
  • Weighs around 4 pounds.
  • Common to live up to 15 years.
  • Has very little body fat.
  • Sheds very little.

Unofficial Classification

The teacup poodle classification is quite new however extremely popular. They have been in the news but the American Kennel Club (AKC) or other kennels have not sectioned the teacup poodle, yet.

Proper Care

The most important rule is to have food in smaller portions and water available always. Your teacup poodle must restore their energy more often than larger dogs. The following list are foods you should never feed your teacup poodle:

  • Chocolate
    It has the ingredient, theobromine, which is poisonous to your dog.
  • Onions
    The high sulphur compound can destroy your dog’s red blood cells.
  • Salt
    Too much can be lethal to your dog.

Finally, when young children are around or handling your teacup poodle, you should be supervising them at all times.
